A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will soon visit Sri Lanka to conduct the third review of the country’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, announced Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department, during a press briefing today.
Mr. Srinivasan noted that after Sri Lanka’s new government took office, IMF representatives held productive talks with the President and his team, recognizing the significant progress made under the program and stressing the importance of preserving these gains.
He confirmed the new government's commitment to the IMF-supported program, especially regarding fiscal and debt targets.
He added that a Sri Lankan delegation had recently visited Washington for discussions, with solid progress achieved and the IMF team will return to Sri Lanka shortly to continue negotiations for the third review.
