The historic annual Esala Perahera of the Kotahena Sri Paramananda Purana Viharaya was held last evening.
The perahera is being held under the leadership of Chief Incumbent Ven. Thambavita Wimalawansha Thera, Basnayake Nilame Gajendra Kasun Dissanayake, the Dayaka Sabha and students of the temple Dham Pasala.
The historic perahera dates back to 1940 and was first held under then Chief Incumbant Ven. Rambukkana Mahindawansha Thera. This year’s perahera is being held in a scaled down manner.
