Four suspects have been apprehended with Crystal Methamphetamine (ICE) worth over Rs. 79 million in Talaimannar, Navy Media said.
Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Thammanna in the North Central Naval Command made this arrest, after searching a suspicious dinghy approaching the Urumalai beach.
According to the Navy, the search led to the seizure of about ten kilogrammes of Crystal Methamphetamine (Ice) attempted to be smuggled into the country. Four persons in the dinghy were apprehended by the Navy.
The four suspects, between the ages 28 and 37 have been identified as residents of Urumalai in Talaimannar.
Navy said the suspects together with drugs, the dinghy and other accessories were handed over to Mannar Police for further legal action.
