Trade Unions collective led by on Mercantile Industrial & General Workers Union (CMU) staged a protest near Kollupitiya last evening against the proposed water and electricity tariffs by the government.
The protesters alleged that despite attempts to propose an increase in tariffs, the wages both in the private and public sector has not increased in keeping up with the skyrocketing inflation coupled with the cost of living in the country. (Pix by Akila Jayawardena)
