Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Sri Lanka a short while ago for a two-day state visit. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation including India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the Foreign Secretary, and several senior government officials.
The delegation was officially welcomed at the Bandaranayake International Airport (BIA) by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath.
Heavy traffic was reported in several areas due to the temporary closure of roads in view of the Indian Premier Modi's visit. Police announced a new vehicle movement plan during the period of the visit.
This would be the first time, Indian Premier Modi is visiting the island after National Peoples' Power (NPP) took office late last year. The two-day visit by Indian Premier came following the invitation extended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake who visited New Delhi after he assumed duties.
