International Mother Language day celebrated

The Bangladesh High Commission in Sri Lanka in partnership with the Education Ministry, the United Nations and the Sri Lanka Scout Association held a solemn event to observe International Mother Language Day at Independence Square, last week 

The event was graced by Chief guset Prime Minister Harini Amerasuriya .
 
In a statement, the High Commission noted that every year since 2000, UNESCO and its member states have been globally observing the 21st of February as the International Mother Language Day. It said Bangladesh's unique history in upholding mother language and its deep commitment to linguistic diversity and multiculturalism were instrumental behind this recognition.
