A jailor attached to Angunakolapelessa Prison has been interdicted with immediate effect for allowing Opposition MP Harshana Rajakaruna to take a selfie with Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake who is currently serving jail term over contempt of court charges, a senior official from Department of Prisons said.
According to the official, the visiting MP was allowed to take his mobile phone inside the prison when he met Mr Ramanayake.
Meanwhile Mr Ranjan Ramanayake was today escorted to the Press Council in Borella for the hearing of a complaint which he had lodged against a newspaper.
More than 20 prison guards accompanied Mr Ramanayake to the Press Council building at Castel street in Borella.
Mr Ramanayake who was handcuffed was surrounded by the prisons guards, but still shouted out “I tried to catch the thieves and they jailed me”.
