The Esala Perahera of the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy has ended with the Day Perahera.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last night watched the final Randoli Perahera last night after taking part in religious observances at the Dalada Maligawa.
Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara welcomed the president and escorted him to the temple.
Meanwhile at the final Randoli Perahera an elephant ran amok, but was soon brought under control.
The procession resumed after several minutes and no serious injuries had been reported.
Meanwhile, the water cutting ceremony and the day procession was held today (23) and the Diayawadana Nilame is due to report to the President about the conclusion of the event at the President’s house in Kandy.
