Services as the Kandy Railway station has been restored today after experiencing the worst ever floods in more than a century, officials said.
The railway station including the tracks and the area opposite the station was inundated for several hours yesterday.
However by evening the water level reduced and the cleaning operations commenced. Train services were restored by this morning.
Most parts of the town too were flooded in the worst ever floods in over 100 years.
Officials said that a one billion storm water project implemented under the Megapolis project in t
he former government was believed to be the main cause of the floods.
Under the project underground stormwater network which was operational from the British period had been altered, officials said.
Passengers were held up due to the flooding.
