Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts are most likely to witness light rainfall today, says the Department of Meteorology.
Besides, showers or thundershowers may come about at a few places in the Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
All the while, it has been forecasted that showers or thundershowers will also pass off at a few places in the off shore areas extending from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly and will strike at 20-30 KMPH.
Wind speed may advance into 40-50 KMPH intermittently in the marine areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Puttalam to Kankesanthurai via Mannar.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be moderately rough occasionally.
In the meantime, temporarily strong gusts of wind and stormy seas can be expected during thundershowers.
