The Mahanyake's of the Four Chapters in the country have jointly signed letter calling the President to pardon Ven Galagoda Aththe Ganasara Thera possibly before Weask from his term of the prison sentence of four years.
In a four paragraph letter the Venerable Thera's point out that Venerable Ganasara Thera headed the Presidents Committee for a "One Rule of Law and one Country " .and had given the guidelines for its fulfillment.
Giving a background to thera’s prison sentence on 28.03.2024, the Mahanayakes set out that at a Media discussion at Kurugala Raja Maha Vihare , the Thera was accused of having made derogatory statements to bring about disunity among communities and was sentenced for four years of imprisonment.
It is a known fact that this Venerabe Thera had raised his voice on behalf of the Sinhala Buddhists and also informed the Security forces of the intended anti social activities of ultra nationalists movement to disrupt the Unity of the country, the letter pointed out.
The Thera's main aim was to build National Unity among communities and social unity among the communities.
The Mahanayke Thera's had called upon the President , taking into consideration of the work done by Venerable Ganasara Thera to bring unity among the communities to pardon him from his prison sentence during Weask.
The joint letter has been signed by the Mahahanyake of Malwatte Venerable Siddartha Sumangala Thera, the Mahanayake of Asgiri Warkagoda Dhammadassi Sri Pgnananda Gnaratne Thera, the Mahanayake of Amarapura Venerable Karagodauyanoda Maithi Murthi Thera and Mahanayake of Ramanaya Nikaya Venerable Makulewe Wimala Thera.
