A tense situation was reported in-front-of the Ministry of Education at Isurupaya, Battaramull today as police attempted to disperse protesting Development Officers demanding appointments as permanent teachers.
The protestors caused a major disruption of traffic, blocking the Kottawa - Borella Road (174 bus route) near the Ministry of Education.
During the incident, a Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) and two constables were injured, with one officer being transferred to the ICU.
Four individuals were taken into custody in connection with the disturbance.
