Agriculture officials have been instructed to immediately convert all agriculture development centres to agro-technical hubs, the Agriculture Ministry said.
Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera has given the instruction following the proposal to allocate Rs.2500 million from the budget for this purpose.
The Department of Agricultural Development will be in-charge of this task, the Ministry said.
In addition to this, a project has commenced to gather all data related to agriculture into a system, and to establish computer facilities for farmers to obtain the data and information they need at the farmers' centres.
