A mother of four was killed after being struck down by the Ruhunu Kumari Express Train from Matara to Colombo at Rathgama this morning (29).
Police said the incident occurred at the Patuwatha Railway Crossing. The 76-year-old victim, who was visually handicapped, usually walks from her home to a nearby shop in the mornings and walks across this crossing on her way. Her relatives believe the accident occurred during this usual walk.
Rathgama Police is investigating.
