The National People’s Power (NPP) recorded a convincing victory in the Galle and Hambantota districts returning 12 members to Parliament from the two districts while recording victories in 39 electorates of the results announced so far.
In the Galle district the NPP obtained seven seats while the SJB and the SLPP obtained one seat each. In the Hambantota district the NPP returned five members to Parliament while the SJB and SLPP returned one member each.
The NPP has won the electorates of Kandy, Matale, Laggala, Ratota, Panadura, Bandaragama, Kalutara, Nallur, Jaffna, Minneriya, Medirigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Mahiyanganaya, Viyaluwa, Passara, Hali Ela, Welimada, Bandarawela, Bibila, Eheliyagoda and Aranayake electorates.
The EPDP won the Kayts electorate.
