Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Sampath Thuyacontha has been appointed as the new Secretary of Defence.
He replaces General Kamal Gunaratne as Defence Secretary.
Meanwhile former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne was appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security.
