Sri Lanka will soon issue a new category of visas for ‘digital nomads’ or persons who make a living working online in various locations in a fresh move to attract more tourists to the country.
Under a proposal put forward by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and approved by the Government, the visas will be issued at an annual fee of US $ 500.
This will be a new category of visas to be issued.
The visa will be issued online after the required security clearance is granted.
The objective would be to attract persons from European countries who work online while traveling as tourists.
