One person was killed in a fire that broke out this morning in the warehouse of a chemical factory in Kandana.
The deceased has been identified as an Accountant of the factory, a 47 -year-old Ganemulla resident, according to police. He was identified as Mr Samantha Abeyratna.
some 200 students in two adjoining schools who fell sick after inhailing the smoke were hospitalised. Of them 150 students were taken to the Ragama hospital and 35 of them have been warded while 74 were taken to the Aniyakanda rural hospital and six have been warded.
According to investigations, the factory's accountant was inside the warehouse when the fire broke out and died in the tragedy.
The Gampaha and Negombo fire departments, as well as the Sri Lanka Navy, helped to extinguish the fire, according to the police.
