(UPDATED) An open verdict has been reported into the death of a Brigadier who was found dead in his room at a training camp in Kuda Oya in the Monaragala district, Police said.
The 53 year old officer, the Commanding officer of an army camp in Periyakulam, Vavuniya had arrived for a training session.
He was identified as Air Mobile Brigade Commander, Brigadier Sanjaya Mahendra Perera, 53 years.
The Brigadier had called his wife around 4.00 a.m. on Tuesday and told that he was experiencing a breathing difficulty. In turn the wife had informed the camp.
The staff there had broken through the door and found that the Brigadier had fallen down and an examination revealed that he had passed away.
Acting Magistrate Deepika Kumari conducted the investigations.
An open verdict has been reported into the death and parts of the body have been to the Government Analysts for further investigations.
