A suspect who had illegally stored over 10,000 kilos of refuse- tea powder unsuitable for consumption was arrested at Buwelikada in Kandy, Police Special Task Force (STF) said today.
They said that the raid was carried out according to information received. The 67 year old suspect identified as a resident of Ketakumbra area in Kandy was found possessing 10,150 Kg of refuse -tea powder unsuitable for consumption. The tea powder was stored in plastic bags and as stored in dark and damp conditions.
The STF said that the use of tea unusable for consumption would be a reason for the degradation of the reputation of the Ceylon tea which have established a demand in foreign countries.
