One person was arrested with 3 kg and 195 g of ICE drug valued over Rs 30 million in a sudden operation carried out by the STF at Sirithoppu junction in Mannar yesterday (1), Mannar Police STF said.
Acting on a tip-off received by the officers of the Mannar camp, STF officers deployed at the Sirithoppu junction had carried out a special search operation where they were able to apprehend the culprit carrying the contraband concealed in the motor bike he was riding on.
The STF suspects that the stock of drugs would have been brought to the island from India via sea and was being transported to be sold.
The Mannar STF officials have taken steps to hand over the arrested suspect and the stock of contraband to the Mannar Police.
