A police constable attached to the Negombo Police has been arrested by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) in connection with the killing of alleged organised criminal "Ganemulla Sanjeewa."
Police Media Unit said the 26-year-old officer, a resident of Padeniya, was arrested during investigations conducted on the woman who had come to the Aluthkade Court complex along with the alleged shooter. Inquiries had revealed that the arrested police constable had maintained a close relationship with the female suspect, who is still at large.
Investigators have also found a phone number allegedly used by the female suspect listed on the police constable's mobile phone. The CCD is conducting further investigations.
