At least 25 were persons arrested as police dispersed an Inter University students Federation protest at Maradana today evening, Police said.
The protest which started off from Maradana made an attempt to march towards Fort, but was prevented from proceeding.
However, the students turned back and staged a sit in protest near the Health Ministry at Dean’s road when the police used tear gas and water canons and dispersed them off.
Police gave chase to the students to disperse them off.
Earlier the Police using loudspeakers to announce that the protest was illegal.
However, the students argued back as to why the police did not implement the law at time.
