Police have appealed to the public not to let children play in floodwaters or places that have been filled with water owing to the prevailing heavy rains after two children aged 14 and 15 drowned yesterday in Nawagamuwa.
The incident had occurred in Thunandahena, Korathota. The victims had been playing in a stone quarry that had gone underwater using a barrel when the tragedy occurred, according to police.
Both victims are residents of Kaduwela. The bodies have been taken to IDH for a post-mortem examination and Nawagamuwa Police are conducting investigations.
