Special island-wide anti-crime operations spearheaded by the police with the assistance of the Special Task Force (STF) and the army will be launched without warning in the coming days, Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara said.
Speaking at a meeting held at his ministry, Minister Weerasekara said such operations will be launched without prior warnings as there is information that criminals wanted for various crimes are in hiding in different parts of the country.
The operations, which will be launched at night, will happen over a period of days and the minister urged the public to assist law enforcement authorities to make them a success by giving authorities any information they might have.
