A freelance journalist who had allegedly been abducted and tortured had faked his own abduction, police claimed today.
Addressing a media briefing, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said investigations conducted by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) had revealed that the individual had faked his own abduction and that his torture wounds were self-inflicted.
He added that the CCD will question MP Rajitha Senaratne and his son, former MP Chathura Senaratne concerning the incident.
