The Postal Voting for the Local Government elections due to be held next week has been postponed indefinitely, the Election Commission announced today.
The Commission in a statement said that the postal voting due to be held on February 22,23,24, and 28 has been postponed due to the inability of the Government Printer to provide the ballot papers. to the Commission in time.
The new dates will be announced later, the Commission said.
This was the first official annoucement by the Commission that the Postal voting was being postponed. Earlier there were speculative reports about the postponement when the the Commission was trying to dicuss with the Treasury to obtain funds for the printing of the ballot papers.
