Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio will be arriving in Sri Lanka tonight (20) while on on his way to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) being held from October 21 to 26 in Samoa.
The Sierra Leone President will stay in Sri Lanka overnight and will be proceeding to Samoa on Monday.
Since the visit is being made in a private capacity, he will not be meeting with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. However, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath will call upon President Bio on Monday and the meeting is scheduled for10.30am.
Minister Herath said that the Sierra Leone President will be afforded security and all other facilities given to a VVIP in his capacity as a head of state, though he is only in the country in a private capacity while in transit to another destination.The minister stressed that it is not being treated as an official visit.
