The customs has opened an inquiry into Tuesday's detection of smuggled cocaine worth 190 million.
The substance weighing 2 ½ kg was sent from Brazil via Air Mail on August 21 addressed to a location in Maradana, Colombo.
The package was seized on September 12 by the Customs Narcotics Control Division in the presence of State Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya who scrutinized the situation, commending the Customs on the detection.
The substance was hidden inside a 67-foot plastic tubing inserted into the top and bottom edges of a volleyball net.
The package was opened in the presence of two individuals sent by the owner of the provided address, and they were arrested upon chemical testing done on the substance.
The matter has been handed over to the Airport Police Narcotics Division of Katunayake.
