The Airport and Aviation Services Ltd has issued a strong prohibition against kite flying near airports.
In a statement released on Friday (4), the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited stated that it is illegal to fly kites or any other similar device within five kilometres of an international airport in Sri Lanka because doing so would interfere with flight operations, endanger people's safety, and disrupt airport operations.
Those who violate these warnings will face severe penalties according to the law, the statement said.
