Several spells of showers will occur in Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces, the Met Department stated.
Showers or thundershowers will occur in few places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces during the afternoon or night.
The Met Department requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
