Multi-religious observances have been held at the Maussakelle Reservoir to invoke blessings to bring rains.
The religious observances were held with the participation of religious leaders of the area praying that rains fall in the region of the Castlereigh and Maussakelle reservoirs.
The religious observances were held at places of religious worship of the old Maskeliya town, which was flooded during construction of the reservoir. The buildings have become accessible again due to the reduction of the water level of the Maussakelle reservoir.
Water levels of the reservoirs have fallen to about 50% due to a prolonged dry spell currently being experienced in the Western slopes of the central hills.
