The Cabinet has approved a proposal to increase the retirement age in the private sector to 60 years.
Cabinet spokesman Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that the laws will be made effective for below 52 years while for the others above that age a suitable system will be drawn up.
He said that the government has taken into consideration the increase of the life expectancy.
