Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando has left the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after providing a seven-hour-long statement regarding the complaint made by the Director of the State Intelligence Service, Suresh Sallay.
Rev Fr Fernando arrived at the CID around 9.45 a.m after being told to arrive at the CID.
The Supreme Court earlier told the CID to provide a time for the Rev Fr Fernando after he did not call over at the CID on two previous occasions.
He had filed a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court seeking an injunction restraining any attempt to arrest him by the CID. However the CID told courts that he will not be arrested.
Director of State Intelligence Service, Major General Suresh Sallay had lodged the complaint in the CID last month with regard to the comments made by Rev Fr Fernando regarding allegations related to the Easter Sunday attack were defamatory.
