Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena charged in eight bribery cases by the Bribery Commission was today released from all the cases filed against him
This was after the Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika C. Ragala was informed by the Bribery Commission that the written approval of the three commissioners of the commission had not been obtained when the cases were filed.
Accordingly, chief magistrate ordered to release Mr Gunawardena from the eight bribery cases.
The former Deputy Minister was accused of causing losses to the government by obtaining rented vehicles to the Development Lotteries Board (DLB) . He was the Chairman during that period in 2007.
