The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced that all schools nationwide will be closed on Friday, September 20, in light of the 2024 Presidential Election.
Schools are expected to reopen on Monday, September 23.
Additionally, certain schools designated as polling stations and counting centres will remain closed from September 18 to 24.
These schools will be handed over to Grama Niladhari officers after the end of the school day on September 19.
The MoE also noted that schools used as counting centers will only be closed for the specific periods relevant to each school.
