Senior DIG Priyantha Weerasooriya has been appointed as the acting Inspector General of police today.
He was in charge of the North Central province before he was appointed as the acting IGP. This came after the suspension of Inspector General Deshabandu Tennakoon. 
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
