Six Sri Lankan fishermen and their fishing trawler held by Somali pirates have been rescued today (29) during a joint operation launched by the Seychells Coast Guard and the Sri Lanka Navy.
The trawler was captured by Somali pirates off the South-East coast of Africa on January 27.
Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry had sought the help of Somalian authorities earlier.
