Police have arrested the sixth suspect involved in the assault and threatening of a prison guard at his private residence in Minuwangoda, Police said today.
The suspect was a 44 year old resident of Mulleriyawa and was arrested in the Biyagama area yesterday.
The arrests have been made by the Homicide and Organized Crimes Division which is investigating a complaint by the guard where he was assaulted and threatened by group on May 12 at his residence in Minuwangoda.
The gang who threatened the guard had wanted him to refrain from complaining about cases of drug trafficking inside the prisons.
Among those arrested so far is a Captain of the Army who was taken in with a T-56 firearm, two Browning pistols and 167 rounds of ammunition.
The Prison guard has been recognized for his services including several detection of drugs within the Prisons.
