The Navy seized over 557 kg of smuggled Kendu leaves loaded in two dinghies in the Negombo lagoon area yesterday (18).
These were discovered in the Duwa area of the Negombo lagoon. Upon search of the dinghies, naval personnel recovered 19 sacks which had been stuffed with over 557 kg of smuggled Kendu leaves.
Meanwhile, the seized consignment of Kendu leaves and 02 dinghies were handed over to the Customs Preventive Office in Katunayake for onward action.
