Three persons from the same family were killed and five others were injured when a van collided with a private bus in Wagama on the Bibile – Mahiyangana road today, Police said.
Police said that the bus had been parked on the side of the road and the van had crashed into it.
The deceased were identified as Rajendra Rajakaruna (72), his wife U.W.Kalyani (69) and her sister U.W.Kusum Lalitha (72), They were residence of ‘Aruna plant nursery’ , first post, Bibala – Mahiyangana road.
One of the injured persons, Anusha Rajakaruna was transferred to the Badulla hospital from Bible.
The van had been driven by the son of Mr Rajakaruna who was killed in the incident. The son was arrested.
