Showers or thunderstorms will occur at times in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, South, Western or North West and at several places elsewhere in the evenings because the low pressure area in the South-East Bay of Bengal ,the Meteorology Department said
Director General of the Department of Meteorology Athula Karunanayake said there could be temporary localized strong winds .
Meanwhile thunder showers accompanied by severe lightning and heavy winds are expected . The general public is alerted to take adequate precautions to minimise the damage caused by lightning activity.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces during the morning.
Meanwhile heavy rains that occur mainly in the Western Province have not affected the water levels of the main hydropower reservoirs in the country, spokesman for the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Sulakshana Jayawardane said.
The reservoirs such as Samanalawewa, Maussakele , Kotmale had only reached a water level of 69%.
