Displaying a significant growth, Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has developed an income of USD 198 million (Rs.63.3 billion) in the month of March, which is a growth of 22.8 percent in comparison to last year.
In line with the latest report issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka's income from tourism in March 2022 was USD 161.2 million.
The Central Bank report indicates that 106,500 foreign tourists have arrived to Sri Lanka in the month of March 2022 and demonstrating a growth of 17.8 percent 125,495 people have headed to the country in March this year.
With the Russian Federation topping the list (20 percent) followed by India (15 percent), United Kingdom (9 percent), Germany (8 percent) and France & United States (5 percent), destination Sri Lanka made its strong comeback.
Continuing the upward trend in tourist arrivals, 105,498 foreign tourist arrivals were recorded in April this year alone.
Hence, it has been reported that 441,177 foreign tourists have come to Sri Lanka in the first 4 months of 2023.
