Train services have been delayed this morning due to a derailment of a train between the Colombo Fort and Maradana railway stations.
The engine of the 'Meenagaya' intercity express train plying from Batticaloa to Colombo Fort had derailed, causing the delay in railway service, the Railway Main Control Room stated.
Meanwhile train services on the coastal line too have been delayed after a fire broke out in the engine of the Kalutara to Maradana train near the Kalutara railway station.
