Police have arrested two men for the murder of a 31-year-old woman in Thalahena, Thalangama this morning. The arrested include the victim's husband.
According to police, the victim had been temporarily residing at a house in Thalangama along with her husband. It is suspected that the victim was hacked to death with sharp weapons by her husband and his friend following a dispute that arose between husband and wife.
After murdering the victim in the early hours of today, the suspects are alleged to have left her body in the house after locking the doors. Thereafter, the suspects had allegedly gone to the Thalangama Police and lodged a complaint that the victim had been murdered by unknown assailants.
Police have arrested the victim's 31-year-old husband along with his 44-year-old friend on charges of murder. They are residents of Hingurakgoda and Galewela respectively. The body of the victim is currently at the location under police guard. Thalangama Police are investigating.
