The validity period of all category visas obtained by the foreigners who have already visited Sri Lanka have been extended by 60 days with effect from May 11 up to July 9, 2021, Controller General at the Department of Immigration and Emigration said.
Only Visa fees applicable for that period will be charged for the Visas expire within this period and exempted from charging overstay penalty, the department said.
Accordingly, the extension of visa with effect from May 11, 2021, up to July 9, 2021, is applicable to all Resident Visa holders, too. To get extended the visa before that date, visa holders are requested to contact 0707101050 from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm on working days to make an appointment and visa endorsement shall be obtained by visiting the office at Battaramulla on or before July 9 and making payment the relevant visa fees.
The department also stressed that services are being provided calling minimum staff under this Covid -19 Pandemic.
Accordingly, the Battaramulla Head Office is open for the issuance of passport in case of an emergency and the Regional Offices in Kandy, Vavuniya, Matara and Kurunegala are open for the public who may have the essential service requirements to visit the Regional Offices subject to travel restrictions.
