Notable Film Producer and Co-founder of Buddhi Batiks Deshabandu Dr. Buddhi Keerthisena has passed away today morning (17) at the age of 83.
His remains will be placed at his residence on Lake Drive, Colombo 8 from Wednesday (18) to 9.00 am on Thursday (19) and will lie at Buddhi Batiks workshop afterwards in Koswadiya, Mahawewa until 3.00 pm on Saturday (21).
The last rites of Dr. Keerthisena will be held on Saturday (21) at 4.00 pm at the Koswadiya Cemetery, family sources said.
Alongside being a motion picture producer who has produced films including ‘Aya Obata Barai’, advanced production of the movie ‘Sujatha’, Dr. Keerthisena played a vital role in taking the local Batik industry to the international stage.
Dr. Keerthisena leaves behind his wife, Margaret Ranasiri Keerthisena, and children, the present Creative Director and CEO of Buddhi Batiks Darshi Keerthisena de Livera and renowned filmmaker Boodee Keerthisena.
