Assistant Secretary of the United States, responsible for the South and Central Asian Region, Donald Lu, met with representatives of the National People's Power (NPP) yesterday at the Galle Face Hotel. The discussion, attended by U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, focused on pertinent issues concerning both parties.
Present from the NPP were its National Executive Members, namely Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath, Wasantha Samarasinghe, and Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa. The meeting addressed a range of topics, notably the current economic climate in Sri Lanka, the involvement of the International Monetary Fund, ensuring the integrity of electoral processes, and security dynamics within the Indian Ocean region, a statement said.
