Police have launched investigations to arrest suspects who allegedly murdered a woman after robbing her home in Kushtarajagala, Weligama last night.
Police Media Unit said the 78-year-old victim had been living with her sister and brother-in-law in the house. The sister and her husband had gone to Weligama town. Upon returning home, they had not received any response from her from within the house. As such, they had conducted a search of the house, where they came upon the victim lying on the floor of a room bound and gagged. She was rushed to the Walana Hospital but died on admission.
The body is currently lying at the Walana Hospital and investigations are ongoing to arrest those responsible.
