USD 499.2 million has been received as workers’ remittances in August 2023, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) said.
The inward remittance marked an increase of 74.4% compared to the equivalent period in last year.
The collective figure for January to August 2023 stands at USD 3,862.7 million.
However, CBSL also noted a decline in the workers’ payments in August 2023 in comparison to July 2023.
In line with the data from the CBSL, workers’ remittance in July was USD 541 million.
